PURPOSE
The purpose of the study is to study the experiences of Latin(x) college students as they navigated the challenges of the COVID-19 Shelter-In-Place.
PROCEDURES
Participants will complete a brief survey inquiring about their experiences during the COVID-19 Shelter-In-Place. The survey is expected to take approximately 15 minutes to complete.
POTENTIAL RISKS
Sometimes people feel distressed answering questions. If you feel anxious, sad, or distressed, we encourage you to seek support from SJSU Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS) at (408) 924-5910.
POTENTIAL BENEFITS
A potential benefit of this study is the positive emotions associated with sharing their experiences. The larger benefit is that this research study will help to identify some issues that are currently affecting Latinx students in higher education in hopes of influencing college administrators to make meaningful changes.
COMPENSATION
Participants are eligible to enter their email address for a chance to win one of five $20 Amazon gift cards. Those eligible to participate in the study are eligible to enter the raffle. Winners will be selected at random and notified via email. Participants have a 1 in 60 chance of winning.
CONFIDENTIALITY
Email addresses collected for the raffle will be held in a separate document than the data. Once the winners are selected, those email addresses will be deleted. Participants are encouraged to use their SJSU email for an added security measure to students' concern of confidentiality. Results will be presented in aggregate to protect individual responses. We will not provide any information about individual responses; instead our findings will show trends in the data.
