Exit Survey for Freshman Writing Students, Spring Semester - 2016

Your Right to Consent and Confidentiality:

The College of Humanities and Arts Stretch English Pilot program is conducting this survey. The survey is intended to help us gauge the effectiveness of writing instruction at SJSU for first year writers.

Your participation in this survey is voluntary. Only you have the specific information about your needs as a developing writer that will help us to improve the quality of the writing instruction you receive at SJSU.

In this survey you are asked to provide the following information:

·         your SJSU student ID number and demographic identifiers

·         your learning experience in the First Year Writing course

·         your satisfaction with your placement choice

·         your college experience in this course

The information  you provide will be used to generate a general profile of writing students at SJSU, not a specific profile of you as a writer.

Your ID number disappears from the compiled data so that, in the final report of survey data, you cannot be individually identified.

Because the survey data will contain your ID number, though, we have taken steps to ensure confidentiality of the information that number accesses: we are keeping the survey data in the university learning management system, for the duration of the pilot study, which is from Fall 2014 to Fall 2016.
